I had takeout poke for 5 days straight in a row and decided I should start making it myself. I figured that I ate it enough to be able to steal the (simple) recipe. I was looking for a place that I can grab sashimi-grade salmon. I stumbled upon Royal Hawaiian Seafood and I was intrigued because they are a wholesaler offering fish to any customers that simply just need to make an account. They have so much selection for fish and flying fish roe, which is a huge plus for me. All I had to do was order 12 hours in advance online, then go pick it up. Parking was super easy, it's like an industrial area and really open, which is the major reason why I didn't want to go into San Francisco to get a cut of fish. Once I got there, an employee was there to ask for my name and grabbed my order from the back. It was really quick and they have a ring bell in case everyone is in the back. Once I got home, I opened my bag and I saw the fattiest salmon of my life. I really like fatty salmon and I was able to get a cut that had super thick white lines (which is why I ordered the Ora King Salmon from New Zealand). I diced it up for poke and spicy mayo, and separate cuts for sashimi with chopped wasabi and soy sauce. The customer service is excellent. They are quick with emails too! I have been there many times and always looking to go again when I'm craving sushi/poke. I would definitely recommend this to all my friends looking for fish to make sushi or sashimi with! I am also born and from Hawaii so it was cool to shop at a place that has ties from Hawaii too. Awesome experience overall! Mahalo!!

why does this place not have more reviews? but it is definitely one of those hidden gems for consumer purchase! like so many businesses who either failed or turned their biz model during these times, they are of the latter and started offering quality seafood to the public at very reasonable prices. (if you don't agree to the prices, pls feel free to disagree with a better alternative in the bay area.) their website is transparent with pricing and i think they're trying to grow their customer base too with more knowledgeable articles on sourcing origins and recipes. their IG account seems to be better updated with customer photos so you can get creative as to how to serve a potential dinner party or special occasion meal. this place definitely would not hurt the wallet as much for quality and freshness vs dining at reputable restaurants. in fact, they sell to many reputable restaurants which may be the reason why some items may be out of stock often (hint hint those uni trays) it's very close to the airport, so i think it helps with keeping things fresh as they unload the planes. also they are responsive and helpful if you have any questions via IG PMs.

I was super excited when i found out RHS was offering their product for retail purchase. I love the seafood boxes they offer and recipe suggestions for any of the seafood I'm not familiar with. RHS also offers their products a la carte, if i find something i really love but is not includes in their current seafood i am able to add it to my purchase. The staff is friendly, helpful, and are always happy to answer any questions i might have. All the seafood i have purchased is fresh and well packaged.

taking an order of ora salmon, hokkaido scallops, manila clams and entire entire tray of uni....a pound of each...packaged perfectly in a box with a bag of ice...finding color and freshness at perfection...the highest quality experienced...specifically placing an order for a home sushi dinner experience...finding 4 lbs. of food too much to handle for a family of 3...splitting up half for a sushi feast....slicing sashimi with scallops and salmon...couple nigiri pieces with sushi rice...taking uni with just simple seaweed wrap and light drizzle of light sweet soysauce...very good and even better with a tiny drop of sesame oil and sesame seeds...rough trimmings of salmon used for salmon maki rolls...some soysauce and wasabi for dipping...a perfect meal at home...

Royal Hawaiian Seafood is our family's go-to seafood purveyor in San Francisco. Pre-pandemic they sold exclusively to restaurants, but when they added retail offerings we seized the opportunity to enjoy Michelin Star restaurant quality seafood in the safety and comfort of our home. The RHS employees are experts in the seafood business, leaders in promoting sustainability, and consistently provide attentive and thoughtful service. They offer a wide range of products which in our experience always are the highest quality, absolutely fresh, and good value. My personal favorites are the sweet Beau Soleil and briny Amethyst oysters, both varieties positively addicting! Their weekly Seafood Box program has been a great way for our family to try different types of seafood that we wouldn't necessarily have known about or thought of (in addition to the local salmon, Dungeness crab and black cod regularly at our table), from a sustainable source and at an affordable price. We look forward to the RHS weekly emails and Instagram postings of their featured products, usually accompanied by recipes and a catchy theme. For high quality seafood from a local, family owned and operated business with a demonstrated commitment to best practices, you can't do better than Royal Hawaiian Seafood.

Until recently, I occasionally purchased seafood at traditional grocery stores. Recently, a friend and neighbor suggested I try supporting a local business instead. I agreed with the initial intent to buy one time as a gesture. But then, after I received my first box of seafood from Royal Hawaiian, I instantly became hooked. This has been the best seafood I enjoyed- ever. And this includes eating seafood in some of the finer restaurants of San Francisco. The variety, quality, and freshness is superb. And the variety of items I tried were universally amazing. So far, I had Kanpachi for sashimi, Ahi Tuna (Also sushi grade), Chilean Sea Bass, Lobster Tails, Wild Salmon, Scallops, Assorted roe, Caviar, Halibut, Octopus, Mussels, and Oysters. Because of the quality of their products, I am now excited to incorporate seafood as a regular staple for our family's nutrition. As for the service, the family that operates Royal Hawaiian is absolutely a delight to work with. The Bow family are kind and thoughtful and make the transaction of picking up the seafood a pleasure. They give excellent suggestions on how to prepare the food and they have been genuinely interested in my satisfaction. As a result, my neighbor and I like to pick up the order for each other because it is great to interact with this lovely family. If you love high-quality food and want to delve more into superb seafood as part of your menu, I highly recommend Royal Hawaiian Seafood.
